Bathtub Fun

Supplies

  • Bath tub (or the bottom of shower stall)
  • Shaving cream
  • Plastic cups/spoons/plates/toy cars/animals (Anything safe that your kid has never played with in the tub!)

How to

  • Collect supplies with or without your kids – Let them know you have a really fun, new activity for them to do while you’re on your MOMents call!
  • Make sure the water in the perfect temperature
  • Show them how to spray out the cream and where they’re allowed to use it (everywhere but their heads?)
  • Suggest they pretend cook, paint, clean or make snow piles for their toys
  • Tell them you’ll be taking pictures of their creations so they can narrate the whole event later to grandparents/dad.
  • Have kids use small hand towels to wipe up the walls when they’re done

Pro tips

  • Wearing swimsuits in a bathtub somehow makes this more fun
  • Even if your little one is very little, just omit the shaving cream and sit in a folding chair to supervise them playing with “unusual” bath toys
  • Shaving cream with menthol or other strong scents can burn…lots of places. Scent-free may be best!
  • It’s ok to leave your head phones in when your call is over, if your kids are playing well and think you can’t hear them
  • Do everything possible for them to not get cold (and therefore, whiny). Keep adding warm water and use the bathroom heat fan, if possible!
  • To really sustain this, don’t forget drinks and dropping food into their mouths like a mama bird (to avoid their wet fingers)
