Final Thoughts on Remembering

In Feb of 2020 I was thinking about how easily we forget. I was laying with a cranky, overtired baby thinking that as tired as I was at that time I knew one day I would be able to sleep through the night again. I knew this because I have been through those sleepless nights with the other kids and they always grew out of it. Because I remembered I was in a season that would not last, I was not worried about the fact that neither the baby or I was sleeping. I was soaking in the cuddles as I thought about how often we forget that the Lord has walked with us through tough seasons before and we can know that He will walk through the tough seasons we are currently enduring. We are so quick to not be able to see the forest for the trees. As I lay there remembering that someday this sweet toddler in my arms was not going to need me to fall asleep. I was also reminded of the times that God’s grace was evident in my life. Some of those instances I hadn’t spent time remembering in a while. In remembering for ourselves the way God has worked in our lives, we should also be sharing these instances to help others to remember. We also have God’s word full of his grace poured out through history that we should be meditating on and reminding ourselves of, and sharing with others. That sweet girl now sleeps through the night, most of the time.

That night in February I had no idea that the theme of remembering was going to be so important to me through the next year. I am so grateful that the Lord used my thoughts that night to remind me to spend time remembering. It has been something I have turned to throughout the craziness that ensued just a month later and has lasted now for over a year. I am so grateful that we were able to explore this theme throughout MOMents this year! Thank you for joining us! I hope it was as much a blessing to you as it was to me!

As we wrap up this year of MOMents of Remembrance: Rejoicing in God’s Goodness,  I want to encourage you to reflect on the way the Lord has worked in your life this year and take time to share that with someone.
